The Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC) has invited online applications for the Direct Recruitment Examination for the post of Junior Scientific Officer (JSO) under the Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratory, Home Department, Government of Mizoram. A total of 12 vacancies are available across seven JSO specialisations: DNA, Fingerprint, Chemistry, Ballistics & Toolmarks, Questioned Documents, Photography and Cyber Forensic. The post is classified as Group ‘B’ (Non-Gazetted) and carries Level-7 in the Pay Matrix. Eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the MPSC portal up to 27 August 2026 by 4:00 PM.

Eligibility

  • Age Limit:
  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 30 years
  • Age will be calculated as on 1 August 2026.
  • Upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years for ST/SC candidates or as may be notified by the Government from time to time.
  • Computer Proficiency:
  • Candidates must possess computer proficiency as prescribed by the Mizoram Group ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ Posts Service/Recruitment (Amendment) Rules, 2023.
  • Mizo Language Proficiency:
  • Candidates must achieve the prescribed pass mark in the qualifying test of Mizo Language Proficiency.
  • Candidates who studied Mizo subject in Class X standard (HSLC) or above within Mizoram, or opted for Mizo subject as MIL outside Mizoram, are exempted from taking the qualifying test paper.
  • Documentary support proving fulfilment of eligibility conditions must not be dated later than the last date for submission of the application and must be uploaded by the last date.

  • M.Sc. Forensic Science OR M.Sc. Human Genetics OR M.Sc. Biotechnology OR M.Sc. Biochemistry OR M.Sc. Microbiology OR M.Sc. Genetics or Molecular Biology from a recognised University or Institute.
  • Desirable: Working experience in a recognised forensic science laboratory.
  • M.Sc. Forensic Science from a recognised University or Institute.
  • Desirable: Working experience in a recognised forensic science laboratory.
  • M.Sc. in Forensic Science OR M.Sc. Chemistry OR M.Sc. Biochemistry from a recognised University or Institute.
  • Desirable: Working experience in a recognised forensic science laboratory.
  • M.Sc. Forensic Science OR M.Sc. Physics OR M.Sc. Mathematics OR Applied Mathematics OR B.E. (Civil/Mechanical) from a recognised University or Institute.
  • Desirable: Working experience in a recognised forensic science laboratory.
  • M.Sc. Forensic Science from a recognised University or Institute.
  • Desirable: Working experience in a recognised forensic science laboratory.
  • M.Sc. Forensic Science with specialisation in Digital or Multimedia Forensics OR B.E. or B.Tech. or above in Computer Science or Electronics from a recognised University or Institute.
  • Desirable: Working experience in a recognised forensic science laboratory.
  • M.Sc. (Cyber/Digital Forensics) OR M.Sc. Forensic Science with specialisation in Digital or Cyber/Multimedia Forensics OR B.Tech. or above in Cyber or Digital Forensics OR Master in Computer Applications (MCA)/M.Sc. IT OR B.E. and above in Computer Science from a recognised University or Institute.
  • Desirable: Working experience in a recognised forensic science laboratory.
